The International Seminar “The World
of the Workers and their Archives” took place on
September 9-11 in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. It was promoted by the National Archive of Brazil,
the Latin-American Archives Association
(ALA) and the Unique Workers’ Central (CUT Brazil).
The
Seminar main objective was the realization of a quality debate about
the importance of the documents produced or accumulated by workers, unions and social
movements. It was an important forum of discussion about the specifities of those holdings in order to stimulate their recuperation
and
preservation. The Seminar was a huge success and two years
from now a second edition will take place.
Recommended to professionals and organizations,
its target public was
documentation centers, archivists, librarians and other informational
professionals, city and rural workers, trade unions representatives, social movements
activists, public and private archives, researchers and students.
During
three days, the Seminar promoted expositions, speeches and debates among
specialists from Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the US. it was
attended by over 200 participants. Click
